angels and demons movie

well... i haven't seen the movie yet so i don't have alot to say, from what i have gathered from the class ot sounds like it wasn't too great and that there were WAY too many plot changes to be called reasonable, and wats with not seeing any leg?!?!?! but iuntil i see the movie, i can't say too much about it

1/2 da vinci code

i read the book and then went to see the movie and wasn't very impressed, it was alright as far as action and excitment goes, but it reaked of cheese. sophies vioce just does my head in. the plot was changed too much for me to like it as a film, and besides the books are always better. and the way that langdon thinks and talks and puts stuff togetheris annoying after the 10th time., it was an alright movie but i have seen far better ones.

movies money and god

hollywood is milking religion for every penny they can get. with religious movies grossing in the hundred millions, they are laughing. i think that the pastor dressing up is a great idea and a great way to get the attention of young people which is something that the church desperately needs to do. it would be a reason for me to attend church more aften because it wouldn't bore me completely to death. i think that the whole "clean filck" programs and dvd players are a bit of overkill. you can't shelter your kids too much or how will they survive in the real world? if there is something going to be shown that is only appropriate for a certain audience, then only show it to that audience, but if there so many things that can offend you in a movie that you need to have a program to blocl them out, WATCH A DIFFERENT MOVIE!!!!

Al Gores update

i think that global warming is the worlds most pressing issue. the update Al gave just shows how rapidly we are increasing our use of energy and how quickly we are degrading the world around us. if anyone believes that climate change if false and it was just made up to scare us, they need a reality check, we need to tell them to pull their heads out of their @$$ and look around. i think that Al updating the info on the subject was a great idea and it wil help alot of people realize wats going on in their world.

Kamran Pasha Article

reading this article makes me monder how people can be so religious to the point where a movie such as angels and demons offends them. io understand that they don't want their relgion bashed, but alot of the things said are false andalot if true, are thought to be myths or something along those lines. i see things differently because i am a very spiritual person rather than religious. i don't understand when people turn to religion for an answer for everything and especially when it is taken to extremes, but that just the way i see things. take the movie, Stephen Kings, "the Mist", the lady who starts preaching to everyone, i don't get why people turn so quickly to that answer and start acting irrationally on one persons word. i was glad when she was killed in the movie cause she made me mad.

Big issues

1. Climate change
2. Hunger
3. Poverty
4. Over Population
5. Economy

I believe that climate change is the biggest issue facing man kind today. it effects everything in our world. we need to change our ways in order to fix what we are doing to our world. with the globe warming up many species will become endangered within their own natural habitats and many others will become extinct. climate change will not be good for crops in hungry nations and that will contribute greatly to poverty. Hunger effects millions of people world wide yet europes ice cream budget would solve world hunger. only a fraction of the US's cosmetic budget would do the same. Poverty effects many people as well. it is sad to hear when a child has to work to support their family instead of go to school. many 1st world countries do something to help
these peoples but they don't do enough mainly because these poeple usually belong to poor nations who don't have alot to offer economically so richer nations th\end not to care for them.
Over population is becoming more and more of an issue every year as our population continues to grow. our large population has a large effect on global warming and why it is a reality.
our economy is in the crapper. this spells bad news for 3rd 4th and 5th world countries who don't have strong ecomonies to begin with. a big thing would be is if poeple would pay for what they buy, they might not lose thier house car or possessions. and don't give billions of dollars to big companies, give it to the people to spend.

changing the education system

I am pretty happy with the education system as it is. if there was something i was to change, it would be to update the books that we have to read in english... not to say that there is anything wrong with them, but something more modern would be nice. keep studying Shakespeare, but not every year, most of the illusions have been lost to time and half the class doesn't have any idea what is being said. i say do one comedy, one tragedy and move on.

high schools being pressure cookers

In towns like ours where there is only one high school, almost everyone knows everyone. it's not hard for things such a rumors and gossip to spread around quickly. tensions between clicks can rise pretty quickly, luckily we haven't experienced much of that. but schooles like ours are more generic and offer almost every type of course out there, where as in cities, there are art schools, private schools, and other schools that are more oriented to one field of study. we get a larger range of students, with different interests and talents. but i don't think that our school is so much a pressure cooker as this article says, we have a fairly mellow student body.

American Teen

I really enjoyed this film. it was a nice break from the fake highschool life that we see in many movies, but it still had all the right characters, the geek, the jock, the princess the heart throb and the rebel. i found it very relatable and i wanted it to be longer :S

i found most sympathy for Hannah because she didn't fit in in the town except for her own group of clase friends, but she made me annoyed when she left school for 17 days over her break up, i know that she loved then guy and that he was very mean to her but if he is like that, he's not even worth shedding tears over. poeple like that make me angry because they have no concideration for others. but back to Hannah, i wanted to tell her to pull it together and get her butt to school because it;s her future that she was laying on the line, realtionships will come and go, but when you let them take a toll on your school life like that, you will greatly regret it when you are older.

Growing up Online

I think that the technology on our school right now is fairly reliable and up to date enough for what we use it for. but even so, there are new technologies emerging all the time and it's hard, and expensive to keep up with whats out there. but it is the students that are more abnle to use the technology, more then the teachers in many cases. i feel that it is important for teachers to be as able as students in useung it. technology has certainly made school alot easier for students, they can just look something up on the internet instead of looking through books for it. most of the books that we have to read in class are out of date, and many kids don't care much for them so they just end up never even opening them, and just using spark notes or something similar. the education system should update the books to something more relatable for todays modern teen. i know that many teachers feels that the books that are being used now are great works of literature and that they should be passed on to the next generation, but very few students feel the same. i don't believe that if there were 27 hours in a day that an average student would spend them reading hamlet, although it would help. i think that the extra time would be spent catching up on sleep or hanging out with some friends, blowing off some steam. i don't think that it matters if a student reads shakespear on their own or not, they are going to study it in high school anyway. but no matter what, i think that everyone should study at least one shakespear tragedy and one comedy for knowledge and culture sake.

Angels and Demons

i liked the book, it was exciting and hard to put down, but incredibly cheesy and a little ridiclulous. Dan Brownwrites a good action book, giving the reader exactly what they want to read and when they want it to happen. just when all seems lost, Robert Langdon pulls a solution out of his behind and saves the day, all while in a daze over Vittoria. he also needs to come up with some more reasonable events to go into his books, like falling out of a helicopter, landing in a river and living because is a yard of fabric? come on, sounds like something Indiana Jones would do, certainly not a symboligist.

pirate shop learning center

i think that this is a brilliant idea, it would be an awesome place to go with friends for a laugh, and to get some extra help with school. to better improve their business, i thknk that they could expand their store to have more than just pirate supplies and have some more practicalthings for sale. A place like this wouldn't survive in Ingersoll simply because we aren't a big enough town, but also, i don't think the public would really know what to think of it, and by the time they get used to it, it may be too late and it will have to close down. though it would be a great asset for Ingersolls tourism industry, of which there isn't much of one. i would visit it if we had one, i know i could use all the help i can get when it comes to essays :S

teens are lazy

I think that iin todayts world, teenagers have become too accustomed to having access to everything they need in the plam of their hands. we no longer appreciate what hard work it was for people who went to school before us to go to a library and search through piles of books for information, or even travelling out of our homes to get it. we also have favourites. Wikipedia has become a beacon of shining light for most teens research as well as adults looking something up. since we have access to all this info 24/7, it causes alot of us to procastinate longer too becasue we know that we can get the info anytime, and dont' have to get it now because it will always be there.

Seeing is believing...or is it

when we see something happen right before our eyes, we usually believe it. seeing something is without a doubt very strong evidence that it is real, but this isn't the case with everything. sometimes we see thiongs not for what they truely are. take magic for example. magicians trick our eyes into thinking that they are actually pulling that dove out of thin air, when they really have it hidden somewhere, like in their sleeve. we know enough not to believe magic shows when we see them, but when it comes to real life, it's hard to tell sometimes. believing in something also has an effect on what we see. say you were looking at something that you have never seen before and you don't know what it is. if someone tells you that there is someting there so see, you will probably believe them and you will then see what they are talking about. suggestion is a very powerful thing.

Earth Hour

Earth hour is a great idea, but i don't know that it is as effective as people like to think it is. sure, we all try to make a conscious effort to participate, but as soon as it is over, we turn all our gadgets back on again an keep on using just as much power. i participated, but only after i remembered, 1/2 hour in to it :S. I think that Earth Hour is a great iea, but we need to do alot more tha turn our lights off for an hour once a year if we are going to pull our environment back around.

TED video, Physics

WOW!!! the stuff that this guy is talking about, in my opinion, is really interesting and incredible. It's astounding that we have been able to find out all this information about our world. I thought that having a young hip looking guy o the talking was a good idea because it helped attract a younger audience and get them more interested in what there was to be said. I think that what they are doing with the LHC is cool, an incredible. I know that there are some areas of science that are better left alone, but i think that this type of research is crucial to unerstaning how we came to be, but i'm not sure if the worl in ready for what they discover.

A+ for everyone!`

I think that this professor has gone off the deep end a little bit. Sure it sounds goo from a students point of vweiw, but it's actually quite a ba thing to do. These students are paying for an education an they expect to get one. by giving A+ to the entire class, this professor is encouraging laziness and bad work ethic. i think that if he is goin to so this, don't give everyone A+, just mark them lighter, which will be a more honest reflection of them, an it will encourage them to work for their marks.

4. Random class related

I think that this class is pretty fun, i like talking about all the things that we talk about. My favourite subject so far woulo have to be the physics. just knowing that they have been able to identify the particles that make up matter like quarks. it's awesome, and that's physics that i find interesting, not that what im learning in it now isn't interesting, but it's not too exciting. i also think that they made a good move by having a young hip looking guy talking on TED because it greatly helps grab younger people attention.

Oak Island

I believe that there is something at the bottom of the pit on Oak Island, but i'm not quite decided on what i think it is yet. With so many possibilities on what it could be, and explanationsof why it could be each different thing, it's hard to pick a side. i can also see how people can bvecome obsessed with it, enough to squander their life's savings trying to solve the mystery, I probably would too. One things is for sure in my opinion, what ever is down there had better be good, and important, especially since so much has been lost in efforts so find out.

Hadron Collider

I like science so i have no problem with the hadron collider. creating the conditions of what it was like 1000000000000000th of a second after the big bang is astounding and absolutely mind blowing to me. I wish i could go to see what happens when they finally fire it up. i know that there is alot of controversy over what might actually happen when the create collisions but poeple have to understand, science it trying to benefit us, not undermine the laws of nature and our beliefs.

Pope in Africa

I think that what the pope said in africa was quite stupid. i know that being catholic, he discourages the use of contraception, but to full out lie to an entire nation, when he had to have known that he as uas not a very smart move, especailly for someone in his position. He must have known that people all over the world would be very mad at him for this act. yes, he felt abligated to tell the people that they shouldn't be using condoms. but to down right lie to them, it is disgraceful. these people trust him, and would follow him to the end, so why would he lie to them about a problem to the catholic church, that to me is just the least of their problems. this supports the arguement brought to light in Angels and Demons, about how the catholic church bends the truth and even lies about things to the public in order to gain popularity.

Ken Robinson's talk

I think that Ken is trying to get a very good message across about how creativity is being educated out of our youth. being a student it made me think of how true his speech really was. I am always worried that i might make a mistake whilke doing anything and it is stressfull trying to be perfect in this very competetive world which we live in. The arts should be taught with more emphasis and children who are good at them should be encouraged to strive to be the best that they can be with what they love. Educators (no offense to any teachers) should be more aware that not all children fit perfectly into the education system and that there isn't something wrong with them if they don't achieve the high marks or if they have different learning strengths/weaknesses or overall interests.

Experience of blogs.

This will be my first blogging experience. I have heard alot about them but i have never been involved with any.
