Big issues

1. Climate change
2. Hunger
3. Poverty
4. Over Population
5. Economy

I believe that climate change is the biggest issue facing man kind today. it effects everything in our world. we need to change our ways in order to fix what we are doing to our world. with the globe warming up many species will become endangered within their own natural habitats and many others will become extinct. climate change will not be good for crops in hungry nations and that will contribute greatly to poverty. Hunger effects millions of people world wide yet europes ice cream budget would solve world hunger. only a fraction of the US's cosmetic budget would do the same. Poverty effects many people as well. it is sad to hear when a child has to work to support their family instead of go to school. many 1st world countries do something to help
these peoples but they don't do enough mainly because these poeple usually belong to poor nations who don't have alot to offer economically so richer nations th\end not to care for them.
Over population is becoming more and more of an issue every year as our population continues to grow. our large population has a large effect on global warming and why it is a reality.
our economy is in the crapper. this spells bad news for 3rd 4th and 5th world countries who don't have strong ecomonies to begin with. a big thing would be is if poeple would pay for what they buy, they might not lose thier house car or possessions. and don't give billions of dollars to big companies, give it to the people to spend.

changing the education system

I am pretty happy with the education system as it is. if there was something i was to change, it would be to update the books that we have to read in english... not to say that there is anything wrong with them, but something more modern would be nice. keep studying Shakespeare, but not every year, most of the illusions have been lost to time and half the class doesn't have any idea what is being said. i say do one comedy, one tragedy and move on.

high schools being pressure cookers

In towns like ours where there is only one high school, almost everyone knows everyone. it's not hard for things such a rumors and gossip to spread around quickly. tensions between clicks can rise pretty quickly, luckily we haven't experienced much of that. but schooles like ours are more generic and offer almost every type of course out there, where as in cities, there are art schools, private schools, and other schools that are more oriented to one field of study. we get a larger range of students, with different interests and talents. but i don't think that our school is so much a pressure cooker as this article says, we have a fairly mellow student body.

American Teen

I really enjoyed this film. it was a nice break from the fake highschool life that we see in many movies, but it still had all the right characters, the geek, the jock, the princess the heart throb and the rebel. i found it very relatable and i wanted it to be longer :S

i found most sympathy for Hannah because she didn't fit in in the town except for her own group of clase friends, but she made me annoyed when she left school for 17 days over her break up, i know that she loved then guy and that he was very mean to her but if he is like that, he's not even worth shedding tears over. poeple like that make me angry because they have no concideration for others. but back to Hannah, i wanted to tell her to pull it together and get her butt to school because it;s her future that she was laying on the line, realtionships will come and go, but when you let them take a toll on your school life like that, you will greatly regret it when you are older.

Growing up Online

I think that the technology on our school right now is fairly reliable and up to date enough for what we use it for. but even so, there are new technologies emerging all the time and it's hard, and expensive to keep up with whats out there. but it is the students that are more abnle to use the technology, more then the teachers in many cases. i feel that it is important for teachers to be as able as students in useung it. technology has certainly made school alot easier for students, they can just look something up on the internet instead of looking through books for it. most of the books that we have to read in class are out of date, and many kids don't care much for them so they just end up never even opening them, and just using spark notes or something similar. the education system should update the books to something more relatable for todays modern teen. i know that many teachers feels that the books that are being used now are great works of literature and that they should be passed on to the next generation, but very few students feel the same. i don't believe that if there were 27 hours in a day that an average student would spend them reading hamlet, although it would help. i think that the extra time would be spent catching up on sleep or hanging out with some friends, blowing off some steam. i don't think that it matters if a student reads shakespear on their own or not, they are going to study it in high school anyway. but no matter what, i think that everyone should study at least one shakespear tragedy and one comedy for knowledge and culture sake.
